McLaren have a mountain to climb in terms of the problems associated with their Honda power unit but it seems that they have at least overcome some of their aerodynamic issues.
Having been plagued by several fundamental design issues over the last few seasons, McLaren revised their under chassis turning vanes in Melbourne, adding another slot into the forward element.
The turning vanes role is to both condition the flow moving under the nose and to protect this from the inboard front tyre wake. The additional slot will energise the most forward element, allowing airflow to move inboard.
