Williams new engine supplier, Mercedes, has so far exceeded expectations according to deputy team principal Claire Williams.
The Grove based outfit has switched from Renault to Mercedes despite having only rekindled their relationship with the French manufacturer in 2012.
Having worked with Mercedes on their new turbo-charged V6 unit for 2014 for the past few months, Williams says they’ve already begun to see the benefits.
“Yes, I think [they have] exceeded them,” she replied when asked by Autosport if the Anglo-German manufacturer had met expectations so far.
“You know how professional that operation is, and everything we have seen since we signed that contract hasn’t changed our mind.”
Williams also says they’ve benefitted from Mercedes location in Brixworth as it’s just a few miles from their factory, compared to Renault which is based in France.
“The easiest thing for us in the whole thing is that they are just down the road, which makes it easier when you are trying to work with them.
“Going over to France is a long trip and not necessarily conducive,” she added.
“But our engineers can dash to Mercedes countless times and they come to us. We are really pleased.”
