Ferrari have ruled out driver error in Felipe Massa’s Monaco Grand Prix crash, which looked like a carbon copy of the one he suffered in final practice.
Whilst that accident was put down to a mistake by Massa, Ferrari’s technical director Pat Fry says the team identified an issue with the front-left of the car, which will be investigated further.

“First and foremost, I’m pleased that Felipe is okay,” he said after the Brazilian was taken to hospital for precautionary checks.
“[The] accident looked very similar to what happened in the third free practice session, but in fact the two incidents are very different. Unlike yesterday, it seems that today’s incident can be attributed to a problem on the left front corner of the car.
“It’s too early to say precisely what happened and in the next few days, we will try and ascertain the exact cause back in Maranello.”
