Luiz Razia will race for Marussia in 2013, joining Briton Max Chilton, according to Brazilian media.
The 23-year-old has been in negotiations with seveal outfits, including Force India and Caterham – where he spent 2011 as their test and reserve driver.
Before that however, he tested for Marussia (then Virgin Racing) during the young driver test in Abu Dhabi. He also drove for Toro Rosso at the 2012 test, but failed to secure a seat with the Red Bull owned team which opted to retain both Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne.
It’s believed the Brazilian has significant financial backing, which would in part explain why Marussia have opted to sign the rookie alongside Chilton, also a rookie, after their decision to drop the experienced Timo Glock due to financial constraints.
