Fernando Alonso topped the second practice session for the Canadian Grand Prix, closely followed by Sebastian Vettel in second, just under four tenths behind.
The session was however halted on several occasions following a couple of accidents in quick succession of one another, starting with Adrian Sutil, who suffered broken front-left suspension after he brushed the wall at turn six – though a yellow flag was the only result.
Just minutes later, Kamui Kobayashi hit the wall at turn four with some force, stopping the session for several minutes as the marshalls cleared the track.
Deja Vu then took hold as Jerome d’Ambrosio made the same mistake at the same corner within a minute of the session restarting.
Lewis Hamilton was the biggest looser from the incident. He suffered a puncture and damage to his floor from the Virgin’s debris, though he managed to make it out for a few laps after a quick fix to the MP4-26’s floor.
Pedro de la Rosa, who replaces Sergio Perez for Canada, completed his first ever laps in the Sauber C30 and went 18th quickest.
