Formula 1 could experience its first truly wet race of the 2011 season in Canada this weekend as almost all weather sources, including the country’s official weather office, predict heavy rain on Sunday afternoon.
The likelihood of showers on Friday are low, but the chance increases throughout the weekend. Saturday has a 40% chance of showers, whilst race day has a near 65% chance of heavy precipitation.
The current season has been lucky to avoid any noticeable rain, only a few drops fell in Malaysia earlier this year, but quickly evaporated in the tropical heat.
Montreal might not be so lucky, with temperatures expected to drop to as low as 11ºC and a high of just 16ºC.
As per the new regulations regarding DRS, the system will be disabled upon the race being classified wet. If the predicitions come true, we could have to wait until the European GP to see how the double-DRS zone affects the race.
