The FIA could be asked to keep a close eye on Red Bull’s front wings for the next couple of races as people up and down the pit lane are insisting that they flex more than regulations permit.
Lewis Hamilton’s reaction to watching one of Sebastian Vettel’s laps was, “Have you seen that wing!” This, coupled with the amount of time Red Bull mechanics spent repairing front wing damage, could mean we see a repeat of last-seasons antics.
Lewis Hamilton went on to tell Germany’s Bild newspaper, “Either we close the loophole, or we all copy it.” The McLaren driver believes that the flex in the front wing could be worth as much as half-a-second a lap.
In defense of the comments, Dr Helmut Marko, RBR’s motorsport consultant said, “It was the same thing last year. They try it over and over, but we pass the tests every time.”
