Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso have differing views on how the new Pirelli tyres will effect the amount of overtaking on-track.
The current world champion believes the degredation and sheer amount of marbles that will results from that, will mean overtaking offline won’t be helped by the adjustable rear-wing.
“The race track will have so many rubber marbles, that the rear-wing trick won’t help when overtaking because you have to brake much earlier offline,” said the German.
Meanwhile, Alonso believes that tyres will be the biggest factor to overtaking. The Spaniard is confident the difference between new tyres and used tyres will see a time difference of up to six seconds.
“Nothing else will contribute more to overtaking,” the Ferrari driver told Diario Sport. “When you put on new tyres you can be up to six seconds faster than the ones who have not yet changed.”
