McLaren finished the final days testing in Jerez frustrated by the lack of running, partly due to the five red flags which interrupted the session, but also the weather conditions.
The blustery conditions meant Jenson Button failed to find a set-up which suited his driving styles and later in the afternoon a component failure curbed the amount of laps they could complete.
“A frustrating day of running, with windy conditions compromising our data gathering programme and affecting efforts to find a satisfactory set-up for the MP4-26,” read a statement from the team.
“Jenson was unable to find a suitable balance with the car, and the team’s progress was brought to an early end in the middle of the afternoon following the failure of an internal component.”
The McLaren driver finished the session ninth, just behind Sebastian Vettel.
