The organisers of the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka have made some alterations to the kerbing at the exit of the first Degner Curve in a bid to reduce accidents at the corner.
The 2009 event saw several cars spinning as they exited the 142mph corner. Mark Webber, Sebastian Vettel, Sebastian Buemi and Heikki Kovalainen all suffered scares at the right-hand turn.
The FIA confirmed that the concrete has been replaced with a new 25mm negative kerb.
Other changes around the circuit have taken place at turn 14, the second corner which forms the ‘Spooner Curve’. The run-off has been extended by 20 metres with extra artificial grass.
Conveyor belts have also been fitted to all tyre barriers which did not have any before.
