Renault team principal, Eric Boullier, has expressed an interest in current Toro Rosso driver, Sebastien Buemi.
The Swiss driver’s contract with the Italian team is set to expire at the end of the 2010 season, making him available.
“Sebastien is on our list of potential drivers for 2011,” Boullier told the Le Matin newspaper.
“He even has a special place on it, because I know him very well and like him very much on a personal level.”
The 21-year-old has managed to score seven points compared to his team-mates three, and also led the Canadian GP for a brief single lap.
That performance has led to Red Bull’s advisor, Dr Helmut Marko, praising Buemi, and calling for him to join Red Bull in 2012 if he can continue to shine.
“His Montreal race was perfect, exactly the kind of performance we expect from him,” Marko said after the Canadian GP.
“If it continues, we might consider placing him in the Red Bull team in 2012,” he added.
