The FIA has opened up it’s tender process to find a candidate team to fill the 13th slot for the 2011 season, after USF1 failed to make the grid in 2010.
They also stated they may find a reserve candidate to fill any vacancies which arise before 2011.
“The FIA may also identify one or more possible ‘reserve’ entrants to fill such vacancies,” a statement said.
Candidates will need to pay an application fee of €1,000 before 15th April to register their interest, thereafter the FIA will work with them to identify their technical ability, sufficient financial resources and human resources experience.
The process is likely to be stricter than the previous years, to avoid the problems Campos and USF1 encountered, both of which failed to have sufficient funding.
