Campos look like they might make the grid after-all. A restructure of the team is underway with total control likely to be given to the majority owner Jose Ramon Carabante.
The founder, Adrian Campos is likely to step away from the team as financial problems have plagued them for months. Late payments to employees and most importantly chassis builder Dallara have put the Campos project in jeopardy.
Karun Chandhok who has been linked with Campos and Stefan GP recently denied signing for either: “I am surprised to see the reports emerging, I haven’t signed any contract with any team as of now,” he said. However, he and Bertrand Baguette are understood to be in the running for the remaining seat alongside Bruno Senna.
Carabante has consulted with ex-Red Bull technical director Geoff Willis and ex-Force India team principal Colin Kolles (who was rumoured to be in the running to take the team over), on a short term basis.
Campos aren’t likely to make any of the pre-season tests, a brief shakedown will be their only chance to test the car before a debut in Bahrain on the 14th – although they could yet miss the opening race.
